Kindle Cozy

Have you ever been accused of being a procrastinator? How about a pro-CAFFEINE-ator? If you’re the type of person that has to wait until after they’ve had their morning coffee to get anything done, this one’s for you. I say, what’s the harm in a little rest and relaxation before you start your day. Curl up with your favorite e-reader and then safely store it in this cute bag when you’re ready to face the day.

Let’s get started!

Finished Measurements:

7.5″ x 5.5″

Supply List:

Caron Simply Soft Light Fuschia – 1 skein

Caron Simply Soft White – 1 skein

(or any other worsted weight yarn)

Crochet Hook in size H-8, 5 mm

*I recommend a hook size smaller if you tend to crochet loosely. These types of designs look better with a tighter stitch.*

2 buttons about half an inch in diameter

Stitches and Terminology:

ch = chain

st = stitch

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

sc2tog = insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook

Notes:

Color Changes: start your sc normally by inserting your hook into the next stitch and pulling up a loop. At this point you will have 2 loops on your hook. Next, grab a loop of the new color and pull through the 2 loops you have on your hook to finish that sc. Now you’re ready for the next st in your new color!

Reading the Graph: Ch 78, working in the back loops only, sc from the bottom to the top, reading right to left. When you get to the left end of each row sc an additional 39 stitches starting with pink for two rows and then white for two rows and continuing to alternate. When you finish the last row of the graph and the additional 39 stitches, scroll down to read how to work the flap and finish your creation!

***There is also a written pattern for this graph for those who would prefer to read out the stitches. Just scroll down! ***
